描述：This illustration was commissioned by Jornal Público, one of the largest Portuguese daily newspapers, to be featured alongside an article on child poverty. The article was based on an interview with Amélia Bastos, a Portuguese investigator in the University of Lisbon, whose work has been prominent in the study of child poverty, and the ellaboration of strategies to fight it. I wanted to depict the social drama of child poverty as a fresco of horrors lying mostly hidden from our eyes. Through the keen eye of the social sciences investigator, we get a glimpse of what lies beneath the surface. A small but necessary step to uncover the true scope of the problem, and find ways to fight it.
