How is time defined? In terms of language, "The dead are like that, and never give up day or night." The sun rises and sets once in a day, the moon waxes and wanes once in a month, and the cycle of winter and summer takes a year. The sun, the moon and the stars go round and round, the hands turn, dawn turns and night turns. The perception of samsara is the most fundamental perception. Nature has reincarnation, life has a beginning. The impermanence of time, the interlocking of hour and minute hands, the mechanical ticking, going round and round.
